Coach Sawtelle

Coach Sawtelle has coached high school volleyball for 25 years amassing an overall record of 522 wins with  186 losses and never having a losing season.  In 20 years as the head coach of Jensen Beach high school he won 16 District titles and 11 Regional Championships.  He took his team to the "Final Four" 11 times, competed in 7 state title matches winning 5 State Championships in 2007, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2022.

He was named the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year 7 times, Florida Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year 6 times and Palm Beach area Coach of the Year 8 times.   
He has also developed over 30 players that have gone on to play in college including 5 players that went on to play as professionals.

In 2007, Coach Sawtelle  was inducted into the Fairview High School Sports Hall of Fame.

He grew up in Erie, PA, where he graduated from Fairview High School in 1980. A talented competitive athlete, Sawtelle attended West Virginia University on a wrestling scholarship. After graduating in 1986 with a B.S. in Health/Physical Education and Safety Studies.

Whitney Bailey

Whitney Bailey has been playing and coaching volleyball for over 20 years. She got her start playing at Martin County High School and she went on to play in college at Palm Beach Atlantic University. As a defensive specialist in college, she totaled over 1,200 defense digs at PBAU playing career while amassing almost 150 career service aces.

Bailey graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Before coaching the Falcons, Bailey established a successful career in higher education and K-12 athletic administration, serving various roles including athletic director, senior women’s administrator and advancement.

Before moving into Athletic Administration Bailey served as the top assistant coach for the PBAU Sailfish Volleyball Program under Hall-of-Fame Coach Bob White. Bailey was responsible for program operations, recruiting, and on-court coaching. Before joining the Sailfish she served as a head coach for Palm Beach Juniors and Treasure Coast Volleyball Clubs and as an assistant coach at Martin County High School, winning the school’s 2nd State Championship title in 2009, with Coach Marty Bielicki.

Bailey privately trains volleyball student-athletes under her own company, Florida Select Athletics. She has been working with the YMCA to re-establish a recreational volleyball program, where all 3 of her children participate.

Bailey will be entering her third season as the head volleyball coach at Jensen Beach high school.


She is married to Ben Bailey, and the couple are proud parents of Beau, Emmalyn, and Magnolia.
